A resurfaced video of New York Democratic Congresswoman Yvette Clarke is raising eyebrows after she openly stated she needed more migrants in her Brooklyn district “for redistricting purposes.” The comments, made during a Zoom call in January 2024, have reignited concerns among conservatives that Democrats are using mass migration to manipulate electoral boundaries for political advantage.
“I’m from Brooklyn, New York. We have a diaspora that can absorb a significant number of these migrants,” Clarke is heard saying in the video. “I need more people in my district just for redistricting purposes.”
The remarks, which are now circulating widely on social media, are being slammed by critics as a blatant admission of using illegal immigration to engineer favorable voting maps. Redistricting, typically meant to reflect shifts in population, has long been a contentious political issue — but rarely do elected officials admit to using it as a strategy to import voters.
Rep. Eli Crane (R-AZ) spotlighted Clarke’s remarks during a March Homeland Security Committee hearing, using them as a sharp example of the Biden administration’s ongoing mishandling of border security. “This is exactly what we’ve been warning about — Democrats exploiting mass illegal immigration to boost their political power,” Crane said after playing the video.
Clarke’s statements come amid ongoing Democratic efforts to redraw congressional districts in New York. Though recent redistricting did not significantly alter New York City boundaries, many believe her remarks reflect a broader Democratic strategy.

Outrage over the comments was swift. One social media user wrote: “They’re not even trying to hide it anymore. Bring in new voters, reshape the districts, and label it “equity.” This is nothing short of population engineering for political survival.”
Another wrote: “This isn’t democracy — it’s election rigging by another name. And every American should be furious.”
Some accused Clarke of admitting to “massive voter fraud,” while others pointed out the hypocrisy of preaching about democracy while manipulating demographics for electoral gain.
Former President Donald Trump, who returned to the White House earlier this year, has launched an aggressive crackdown on illegal immigration. In April, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested 133 individuals across upstate New York as part of a renewed enforcement push.
Trump’s top immigration adviser, Stephen Miller, and Border Czar Tom Homan have reportedly set an ambitious goal of 3,000 immigration arrests per day — part of a broader plan to restore border integrity.
Since Trump’s return to office, ICE has detained over 66,000 illegal immigrants in his first 100 days. And according to Homan, they’re just getting started.
“The numbers are improving,” Homan said, “but I’m still not satisfied. We’ve got to ramp this up — fast.”
As Democrats face increasing scrutiny over their immigration policies, revelations like Clarke’s will likely fuel the growing debate over how migration is reshaping America’s political map — and who ultimately benefits.
