Man’s Daughter Loses Eyesight After BF Nearly Kills Her, Dad Releases Pic Of BF
A father released a photograph of the man accused of brutally attacking his daughter, leaving her with injuries so severe that she lost her eyesight, in an effort to raise awareness about domestic violence.
The young woman was hospitalized in critical condition after her boyfriend allegedly beat her in a violent assault. Doctors told the family that the injuries to her face and head were so extensive that her vision could not be saved.
The father, devastated by his daughter’s condition, took to social media to share a photo of the accused attacker along with a message urging the public to help bring attention to the case. His post was shared thousands of times, with commenters expressing outrage and sympathy.
“No parent should ever have to see their child like this,” the father wrote. “I’m putting his face out there so everyone knows what he did.”
Law enforcement arrested the boyfriend on charges including aggravated assault and domestic violence. He was held on bond pending trial.
Domestic violence is a pervasive issue in the United States. According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, approximately 10 million people experience domestic violence annually. On average, nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner, equaling more than 10 million abuse victims each year.
Women are disproportionately affected. One in four women will experience severe physical violence by an intimate partner during their lifetime. Domestic violence is also a leading cause of injury to women between the ages of 15 and 44.
Advocacy groups say that sharing stories like this one can help break the silence that often surrounds domestic violence. The National Domestic Violence Hotline (1-800-799-7233) provides confidential support 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for anyone affected by relationship abuse.
The case served as a stark reminder of how quickly intimate partner violence can escalate to life-altering or fatal consequences.
