Parents Sue Public School For Teaching Islam

A former Marine and his wife sued a Maryland public school system for reportedly forcing students to learn and do assignments about Islam. The lawsuit was filed by the Thomas More Law Center on behalf of John Kevin Wood and his wife, Melissa.

According to the suit, the couple’s daughter and her classmates were forced at La Plata High School to do assignments that seemingly endorsed Islam. People were so furious about this Pepsi ad that Pepsi pulled it after just one day. Watch it here and decide if it’s offensive: One of the assignments was to write the Islamic creed “Shahada,” which means “There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.”

When the phrase is recited by non-Muslims, Washington Free Beacon reported, it essentially means that the person is converting. The suit was filed against the Charles County Public School system, the Board of Education and the principal and vice principal of the high school. In addition, the suit claimed that the teachings put Christianity in a negative light.

“Defendants have treated Plaintiffs’ Christian beliefs and heritage as subordinate to Islamic beliefs and heritage, have treated Plaintiffs’ Christian beliefs and heritage with deliberate indifference, and have been hostile toward C.W. and her family,” the suit read. The law suit took a firm stance against the teaching of Islam in public schools. “Parents must be ever vigilant to the Islamic indoctrination of their children under the guise of teaching history and multiculturalism.

This is happening in public schools across the country. And they must take action to stop it,” Thomas More president Richard Thompson said in a statement. The story quickly went viral, with many applauding the lawsuit and expressing their anger at the school for teaching about the religion. “If parents do not ban together and start suing it will get rubbed in your children face and down their throats.

It is disgusting and against the law to do this. Fire the prinicipals and teachers who teach it. Get them out by suing, if enough parents sue them they will stop this,” one Mad World News reader commented on the site’s Facebook page.

“I’m glad this veteran spoke out because Islam does not belong in America doesn’t belong anywhere because it’s not a religion it’s the two people who don’t believe in Islam and that’s not the way life works so whoever is teaching it needs to go back to Middle East and teach it there because we don’t need that s**t here,” another added.
