Reality TV Star Killed In Plate Crash

Darrel Ward, one of the stars of the popular History channel show Ice Road Truckers, has died in plane crash. The 52-year-old star attended the Great American Truck Show in Dallas and was on his way to Missoula, Montana, to film a documentary on plane wrecks. Both Ward and his co-pilot died in the crash, The Daily Mail reports. “We are saddened by the tragic loss of Darrell Ward, a beloved member of the History family,” said a network spokesman to People Magazine.

“He will be greatly missed and our thoughts are with his family during this difficult time.” Ice Road Truckers is a reality television show that follows the lives of truckers who would deliver cargo to some of the most dangerous and remote parts of the world, according to The Mail. The National Transportation Safety Board is currently investigating the cause of the crash. Witnesses say that the plane was landing when it suddenly stalled.

The pilot was unable to regain control of the aircraft, leading to the fatal wreck. Ward’s Facebook page released an official statement regarding the incident, saying that “an investigation is ongoing and more information will be made available at a later time as the National Transportation Safety Board will be handling they investigation.” The post went on to talk about Ward’s life achievements and his love of trucking.

“Trucking has always been a large part of Darrell’s life; from running the harvest rigs with his grandparents and family, to driving trucks from Montana to Alaska and all roads in between,” the statement read per People.

“In his free time, you could usually find Darrell giving back to the community any chance he got, he had promoted the most recent food drive to help victims in the Louisiana Floods and was scheduled to appear as the grand marshal for the Truck Convoy for Special Olympics in Nova Scotia.” Members of Ward’s family has asked for privacy during their period of grief. Ward is survived by his wife, his two children and his two grand-children.

“No one will ever take you from me no matter how hard the world tries dad nothing can even be put into words how much I love you how much it hurts me to know I can’t talk to you everyday!” his daughter, Terra, writes in a Facebook post. “I’ve called your phone soo many times tonight!
