Throughout its decades-long run, “The Price Is Right” has had its fair share of memorable moments. That’s why this moment, which surprised even Bob Barker after 35 years of hosting, is so impressive (video below).

During his last season as host before Drew Carey took over, Barker got one last surprise that he had never seen before, AWM reports. When bidding on a treadmill, the last contestant took a serious chance. The first contestant bid $1200, followed by $1000 and then $1300. When it was the fourth contestant’s turn to bid, he did something that left many viewers scratching their heads: He bid $999.

The contestant, named Jose, took a big risk by bidding $999. As Barker explained to him, for him to win, he would have to have bid the exact price of the treadmill, as another contestant had already bid $1000.

Jose was confident, however, and told Barker that he understood. Barker continued to explain that what Jose was attempting to do had never in his 35 years as host resulted in a win.

Barker continued to taunt Jose and the audience by hesitating to reveal the price of the treadmill and continuing to explain why the chances were so slim.

“You realize that the odds are really against you then, Jose?” Barker asked. “After all, we have been on for 35 years, and it has never happened.”

He continued, “Often I have told contestants that that is not a good bid, because you have to be exactly right to win.”

Finally, Barker revealed the price: $999. Jose guessed exactly the right price.
