Man Shoots Girlfriend, Her Father Gets Revenge

When a Georgia woman’s boyfriend shot reportedly her in the back, her father knew he had to take matters into his own hands.

The incident took place on May 4 at around 4:30 a.m., according to Mad World News. Jessica Rusk, 22, was arguing with her boyfriend, 25-year-old Thomas McNulty. She says she tried to end the argument, but as she turned her back, McNulty picked up a shotgun, pointed at her, and shot her in the back.

Rusk fell to the ground, bleeding, and her father, 57-year-old Floyd Rusk, who also lives at the home in Gainesville, was not going to let McNulty get away with it.

Floyd grabbed his own gun and fired several shots at his daughter’s boyfriend, WXIA reports. McNulty died at the scene.

Rusk’s mother called the police during the incident and Jessica was rushed to a local hospital, where she was said to be in stable condition. She is expected to make a full recovery.

Authorities say they do not plan to file charges against Floyd for fatally shooting McNulty.

“Obviously violence would be the last resort,” said Lt. Scott Ware of the Hall County Sheriff’s Office. “If you can avoid violence and call 911, you know, we would obviously prefer that no one get hurt. That would be the best case scenario.”

Neighbors spoke to a WXIA about the incident, saying they understand why the father decided to pull the trigger.

“If that was the same situation with us, and somebody hurt our daughter, you know, we’re gun owners and we’d probably do the same thing,” the neighbor said.

No charges have been filed against the father, although the case will be reviewed by the district attorney, who will decide if he will face any.

Readers shared their thoughts on the incident on the Mad World News Facebook page.

“I would hope that if I were put in that situation whether my daughter or someone else’s I would react the same,” one user commented. “Until you are in that situation you are not sure of how you would react.”

“If it had been my Son or Daughter that got shot, I would have done the same thing too !!” another reader wrote. “Georgia does things that way!! ‘Shoot one of mine, I shoot you in return!! Only you will die when I shoot you!!'”

“If the Gainesville district attorney wastes even one moment investigating Mr. Rusk the good people in his district should usher him to the street,” another user commented.
