Professor Beats Trump Supporter During Berkeley Protest (Video)

A former college professor in Berkeley, California, was arrested for using a bike lock to beat Trump supporters at a rally (video below). 

Eric Clanton was charged with three counts of suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon that isn’t a firearm and assault cousing great bodily injury. Clanton was placed in police custody in lieu of $20,000 bail for the crime, which involved three victims at a demonstration at Civic Center Park on April 15.

Police confirmed to the East Bay Times that in several videos from the demonstration, Clanton was seen hitting people in the head with a U-shaped bike lock – causing “significant injuries.” Homicide detectives undertook the investigation because of the serious nature of the assaults, and arrest warrants were served at an undisclosed address in both San Leandro and Oakland. He reportedly surrendered without resisting. 

Clanton, East Bay Times reported, was listed as a lecturer with the California State University system for the 2015 and 2016 school years. He was also listed as a philosophy instructor with the Contra Costa Community College District. 

Police acknowledged that videos taken by onlookers that were shared on social media helped to identify Clanton as a suspect in the three assaults. 

Many readers applauded authorities for arresting Clanton and serving justice for the victims of the brutal attacks.

“This is why our college students are so stupid they have immature Godless nuts teaching them parents save your money make kids go to work t right out of high school for a few years then own education pay for themselves maybe be mature enough to not be so easily lead by diets of stupid,” one Mad World News reader commented on the site’s Facebook page.

“I can see not only a criminal trial but also a Civil action which could keep him broke for years to come. Deservedly so. He should also be banned from teaching in higher education. This would be the same as outlawing a pedephil from living near a grade school,” another wrote.

Others called for Clanton to be charged with attempted murder given the severity of the assaults.

“This scumbag is in fact a potential murderer. The assault he committed could easily have resulted in the death of the young man. Why is the charge not attempted murder ?? The weapon used was capable of being lethal,” one reader commented.

“He should face serious charges and have to pay hefty damages along with the schools deep pockets,” another added.
