Controversy Erupts Over Dress Code At Michigan Wal-Mart (Photo)

Locals in Okemos, Michigan, were outraged when an Army veteran was reportedly denied the right to wear his military baseball cap at the Wal-Mart where he worked, but a Muslim employee was allowed to wear her headscarf.

Customer Lee Young took to Facebook to express his outrage over the incident he witnessed, which involved a military veteran named Val. According to Young, the Wal-Mart employee was extremely proud of his time in the Army and showed his pride by wearing a decorated military baseball cap. 

One day, Young noticed that Val wasn’t wearing his hat, and asked him why.

“Corporate will not allow me to wear that hat anymore while on the clock, because it goes against the dress code,” Val said with tears in his eyes. Young said that he spoke to management, but that they still refused to allow Val to wear the hat. Young decided to boycott the store except for instances when he had no other option.

On one of those occasions, Young arrived at Wal-Mart and was shocked by what he saw in the checkout line.

“As I’m standing in line to pay, this woman in her Wal-Mart vest steps into line behind me and immediately I was outraged!” he said, Mad World News reported. The woman was Muslim and wearing a headscarf.

“So one of our own, who signed his life away to protect our freedoms and homeland, cannot wear his simple old hat, but this woman can wear a headscarf proclaiming her love of the Muslim culture and her dedication to Allah!?”

The charged story quickly went viral, with many expressing outrage towards the store for what they considered to be an unfair policy.

“I worked for Walmart for a very short time . They have no respect for the American worker, the dress code states hats must be blue, or certain departments are black. No logos on the hat, unless it’s Walmart, but note that her scarf is red and white, they hire illegals, and get over on the employees buy saying that they offer profit sharing as a company benefit, not so. After you receive your share bonus they cut your hours drastically so the bonus is paid back. Their expectations of the employees are boarder line modern day slavery,” one Mad World News reader commented on the site’s Facebook page.

“To think that Walmart stands with a destructive culture that declares itself to stand for genocide, female genital mutilation of five and six year old girls, sides with a culture that declares its male population has a ight to rape at will non-Muslim women, stands with a culture that declares it is the right of supremacist males to rape prepubescent girls in illegal marriages, to beat their wives and declares they are the property of the supremacist male is sufficient reason to never patronize the establishment again. Obviously Walmart hates Americans and veterans equally,” another added.
