The man who shot and killed two Kissimmee, Florida, police officers reportedly had a history of mental health issues and issues with authority and racism.

Marine veteran Everett Glenn Miller reportedly ambushed Sgt. Richard Howard and Officer Matthew Baxter around 9:30 p.m. and fatally shot them. Neither officer had the chance to return fire. Miller then fled to a nearby bar, where detectives found him two hours later. When authorities approached him, he reached for his waistband but was tackled and apprehended before he could fire.

“Extremely brave and heroic actions by the deputy — there were other people in the vicinity,” Kissimmee Police Chief Jeff O’Dell told the Orlando Sentinel. “They went hands-on, tackled him to the ground and secured him [and] located a 9mm and .22 revolver on his person.”

Social media posts by Miller later revealed an intense focus on racial issues in Charlottesville, Virginia, and mentioned President Donald Trump.

“Forever 21…Racist a*s America. America is Evil. And I am a Proud American. They can sell racism. I am a racist. We are all racist. However, Im a human and I dont race with anyone,” one post read.

A cousin of the shooter told Heavy that Miller was mentally illl.

“Glenn is my cousin. We grew up like siblings. He joined the military because of my encouragement to get away from the chaos in the neighborhood. We don’t know if he is the shooter or not so the family doesn’t have a statement at this time. And yes he is very ill!!” Sent the booking photo of the shooter for confirmation, she responded, “I will respectfully end this communication. Our family is dealing with the lost (sic) of these wonderful officers,” the cousin said.

Many readers expressed shock over the murders.

“Hate will eat you alive starting with the brain. He’s as bad as it gets. The only thing left to do is give him the death penalty. He so deserves it,” one Mad World News reader commented on the site’s Facebook page. “For the officers that lost their life for no reason may they R.I.P. Prayers for family and friends. God Bless All Of You.”

“Black Criminal shoots 2 black officers? Guess Black Lives Really don’t matter if your black. Had it been a white suspect he would have been a racist. If the officers where both white he would have been declared a hero. WTF is wrong with that picture?” another questioned,

“Evil bigoted racist killer of a thing. Condemn this thing as I would anything that killed out of hate because of color, race or creed,” another added.
