Man Surprises Brother With Down Syndrome With Package (Video)

When a young man with Down syndrome was told to open up a large package, he could have never predicted what was inside (video below).

Tom Doerr moved to the United States from his family’s home in Chester, U.K., in 2016. Since moving away, he hadn’t seen his younger brother Ollie, who has Down syndrome. At the same time that Tom moved away, Ollie moved out of their parents’ house for the first time.

The brothers were both enjoying their independence, but started to really miss each other’s company after months apart. That’s when Tom decided to plan a big surprise for his brother.

As far as Ollie knew, Tom wasn’t going to be able to come home for Christmas in 2016. When he was told that he had a package, he was surprised and went outside to open it up on his doorstep.

Initially, he was a bit confused, but when he saw what was inside, his confusion immediately turned into joy. Inside the box was Tom, waiting to surprise his little brother.

Tom explained the surprise in a comment on Newsflare.

“In 2016 I moved from the UK to the US and haven’t seen my younger brother who suffers from Downs Syndrome since. At the same time he also moved out of my parents house to live independently and so has missed me a great deal,” Tom wrote. “He thought I wouldn’t be able to make it home for Christmas but I decided to surprise him by turning up in a box in the doorstep on Christmas Eve. His reaction was priceless and I’m so happy I was able to spend the holidays together.”

Upon seeing his big brother, Ollie immediately broke down in tears of joy and gave Tom a big hug. He was almost completely speechless.
