State Department To Turn Over All Recovered Clinton Emails
The State Department has agreed to release all documents recovered from Hillary Clinton’s private email server during her time as Secretary of State. The FBI’s decision follows a Freedom Of Information Act lawsuit for the documents’ release from Judicial Watch.
“Any and all emails sent or received by former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton in her official capacity as Secretary of State during her tenure as Secretary of State,” Judicial Watch’s suit requests, reports Standard Newswire. “The timeframe for this request is February 2, 2009 to January 31, 2013.”
Judicial Watch has filed a separate FOIA lawsuit, in which the State Department claims that a disk “containing information recovered by the FBI in the course of its investigation” was not included “in the materials provided to the State Department by former Secretary Clinton in December 2014.”
“In our filing, we advised that we would be prepared to suggest a production schedule to the court on August 22nd,” Elizabeth Trudeau, Director of Press Relations for the State Department, told Fox News.
“The American people will now see more of the emails Hillary Clinton tried to hide from them,” Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch, wrote on the site. “Simply put, our lawsuits have unraveled Hillary Clinton’s email cover-up.”
On July 5, FBI Director James Comey announced that his agency would not be pursuing criminal charges against the former Secretary of State for her actions involving the private email server and the handling or disappearance of classified and sensitive documents.
In his press release, Comey noted: “Although we did not find clear evidence that Secretary Clinton or her colleagues intended to violate laws governing the handling of classified information, there is evidence that they were extremely careless in their handling of very sensitive, highly classified information.”
