Breitbart Employees: Trump Gives Money For Coverage

AmericaNow Staff  ·  March 7, 2017

Breitbart has been inextricably tied to President Donald Trump, and increasingly so as some Breitbart employees have alleged that Trump gave money in order to leverage positive coverage.

Multiple sources at the famously conservative-leaning news outlet have brought to light that top executives at the company have accepted financial arrangements with Trump in exchange for well-spun headlines, according to Buzzfeed.

Such titles include a glowing review of Trump’s book, “Time To Get Tough,” written by Steve Bannon, executive chair for Breitbart.

“Detailed, innovative, and smart, ‘Time To Get Tough’ rivals all other GOP presidential candidates’ books in both specificity and serious policy proposals,” writes Bannon.

This sort of cooperation allegedly occurred on multiple occasions.

“We have no financial relationship with Donald Trump as an investor, advertiser or in any other capacity at this time – nor have we ever,” explained Bannon.

“The insinuation that we do – or did – is a lie. Mr. Trump is a savvy and successful businessman but not the type of investor I partner with in emerging growth companies.”

Breitbart maintained the absence of any bias, citing support and cooperation with Trump rivals.

“We would assume Mr. Trump’s campaign would seek to advertise on our pages just like campaigns of Scott Walker, Ted Cruz, Ben Carson, Carly Fiorina and others have,” stated Bannon.

“As for coverage of Trump, he’s the Republican front runner and we’re glad his campaign – just like every other campaign on the Republican side and certain campaigns on the Democratic side – values our impeccable news judgment and our audience.”

Trump has claimed no stake of ownership in the media site, though one of his biggest campaign financiers was also a major donor for Breitbart, according to The Washington Post.

Certain, undisclosed members of the Mercer family have invested heavily in both securing Trump’s position as Commander-In-Chief and funding Breitbart, according to The Washington Post.

“I can’t say more than ‘the Mercer family,'” said Larry Solov, president and Chief Executive Officer of Breitbart. “That’s all I can specify right now.”

Through the year of 2016, Robert Mercer and wife Diana gave just under $3.4 million to the Trump campaign, the Republican Party, and a super PAC run by Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway.

The Mercer family and Breitbart are likewise interconnected, with Bannon having served as Rebekah Mercer’s political adviser.

The family has also given just under $35 million to various Washington think tanks and state policy groups.
