UW Student Under Fire For ‘All White People Are Racist’ Hoodie
Hoodies with the message “All White People Are Racist”, created by several University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW) students, have come under fire.
Eneale Pickett is a sophomore at the college and recently launched an Etsy page “called InsertapparelShop”. The online boutique sells hoodies for $30 with four different anti-police messages. Every slogan comes with a product description explaining the reasons behind the message, according to Daily Caller.
Those messages include, “You Can’t Be A Revolutionary And Homophobic,” “If I Encounter Another Cop With A God Complex I’m Going To Have To Show The World That They Are Human,” and “Black Men: If You’re Talking About Dismantling A System, You Better Include Patriarchy.”
However, most controversial is their “All White People Are Racist” hoodie.
The site’s description of the slogan reads:
“Racism has little to do with hatred and mostly to do with who has power,” the page says. “White folk or those who see themselves as white are given said power inherently regardless of socioeconomic class, education etc. This is why white men created race in the first place–to maintain power. Racism gave birth to the idea of race.”
In addition to the hoodies, the site sells “Black Girl Magic” shirts, each of which is modeled by Pickett’s UW classmates.
“I want people to share this because white people hate talk about race in this country, so share it lets get this conversation going!” Pickett said in a Facebook post.
Although the shop has only one sale, it has accomplished Pickett’s goal of getting people to start a conversation.
The UW student is now facing copious attacks and insults, which he screenshots and posts on Facebook.
“What’s this a blm muslim bulls*** mold loving asshole attempt at making money off of liberal p*** a*** weak motherf*** that don’t want to work???” one attack reads. “Welfare Queens and and [sic] Kings that sell drugs mooch off the government and the working f*** that pay your lazyass existence by a government controlled buy a Muslim loving anti-american piece of s*** that should have been aborted.”
Another user seems to agree with Picket and writes, “White people hate being called racist more than they hate racism.”
