Woman Sees Snake Eating Goat, Jumps Into Action (Video)
When a Florida woman saw a massive 12-foot snake eating one of her goats, she immediately took action. Graphic footage of the incident was shared online (video below).
According to The Blaze, Rachel Valverde, the owner of a herd of goats, was walking through the woods near her home when she came across a horrific scene – a massive python was wrapped around one of her goats, with its mouth over the goat’s head.
Valverde filmed as she confronted the intruder. She fired her handgun directly into the snake’s head. The snake quickly released the goat’s head and tried to get away, despite being slowed down by the gunshot wound. She continued to fire at the python until she confirmed that it was no longer alive. Finally, she put her boot onto the python’s tail before firing a few last shots just to be sure.
As she fires the last shots into the snake, you can see the animal trying to wrap its tail around Valverde’s foot.
The U.S. Geological Survey says that the Burmese python is an invasive species that was introduced to Florida in the 1990s. This particular species poses a series threat to native species, pets, and even people in some situations. The species’ population is growing and is expanding outside of the Everglades National Park area. It is estimated that it has a population in the thousands in the state of Florida.
Viewers shared their thoughts on the gruesome video on the Mad World News Facebook page.
“People buy these snakes as pets and when they got to big they let them go into the wild. They are breeding like crazy and now Florida is over populated with these snakes killing our pets and wild life. Time to hunt kill them all,” one user commented.
“For all you critics, she was multi tasking…hence the video from her phone,” another viewer wrote. “Damn good shooting, just cause the damn snake wouldn’t die, it wasn’t for lack of bullets she put in it. Go lady!!”
“Oh my God how I hate snakes,” another user wrote. “I am guessing the poor goat is dead but I applaud you for finally killing the snake. Even a snake deserves to be put out of it’s pain. I wanted to retire to Florida but if I ever saw a snake I would die from a fright I do not even know why I have. You did the right thing mam.”
