Teen Does Shocking Thing To Officer At Gas Station (Photo)

A teenager from Houston garnered praise for assisting a police officer at a gas station.

Tommi Jones Kelley took to Facebook to share her story, which has since been deleted. The incident took place at a gas station, when the Harris County deputy constable was pumping gas. Mckinley Zoellner, a local teen, quickly approached her and asked if he could stand behind her while she fueled up her car.

“My initial response was ‘and why?’…His reply, ‘to make sure You stay safe!'” she wrote in the post, Daily Mail reported. “Finished pumping my gas & he was still standing there, in the rain.” 

The teen then got into a car with his mother, and Kelley took the opportunity to express her gratitude.

“I told her she has an amazing son,” she wrote. “She said he wanted to make sure no one hurt me.”

Kelley, who was armed with a handgun at the time, said Zoellner “stood there empty handed.” She said he “had her six,” meaning that he was watching her back.

“With all the terror going on nationwide, this reassured me there are still some pretty awesome individuals out there!” she wrote.

Many readers praised the teen for being so helpful and thoughtful, and for going above and beyond to help the officer.

“This simple but meaningful gesture had presented itself and the young man took it upon himself to make sure this officer of the law was covered from behind,” one Mad World News reader commented on the site’s Facebook page. “Good job young man. You have shown many people just how to show our LEO’s respect for what they do.”

“These parents should be commended for their parenting, it’s to bad that their aren’t more young people who are willing to stand up for justice!!!!!” another wrote. “YOU ARE A WONDERFUL YOUNG MAN!!!!!!”

“What a wonderful young man,” said another commenter. “Thank God there are still some parents out there teaching their kids respect. Hats off to you Mom.”

Some readers called for the teen to be rewarded for his efforts.

“This young man shoul get an award for this,” chimed in one reader. “His mother should also be recognized for raising such a fine young man. Thank You for doing this for her.”

“Yes, a young man reared correctly,” added another. “Thank you for having the officer’s back.”

“God bless that young man and to his mother who taught him values!!” commented another reader.
