Man Attempts Home Invasion, Gets Big Surprise (Photo)
A home intruder learned the hard way that he had broken into the wrong house when a group men inside the home began fighting back.
According to WRCB, 19-year-old Shane Feeney was in his apartment with friends when they noticed that somebody was outside the door. When they heard some strange noises from the other side of the door, Feeney knew he needed to call for help.
“It sounded like he was messing with a gun,” Feeney said. “So I came back and I was like ‘I don’t know if he is, but it sounds like he’s messing with a gun. I’m going to call the cops.'”
While Feeney called police, he said that his friends went into a room in the back of his apartment. One friend left through a window to find help, but found the intruder, later identified as Calvin Carter III, waiting for him outside.
The next thing Feeney saw was Carter holding his friend at gunpoint outside of his front door. He let Carter into the apartment.
“He heard me on the phone with the cops,” Feeney said. “And I said ‘Come here now. Come here now.'”
Once inside the apartment, Carter demanded that Feeney give him his phone, but Feeney did not give in. Instead, he jumped into action.
“Whenever he turned around, that’s when I grabbed him. And his forearms were still loose so he grabbed the gun out of his waist band and shot me in the leg,” Feeney recalled.
Carter shot Feeney in the upper thigh.
Five of Feeney’s friends were then able to stop Carter and held him on the ground until police arrived.
“He kept wresting with me,” Feeney’s friend Tucker Williams recalled. “I was like ‘you have one more chance please stop.’ He wouldn’t stop and that’s when I punched him in the eye twice.”
According to the Daily Caller, Carter has been charged with first-degree attempted murder, especially aggravated burglary, reckless endangerment, and three counts of aggravated assault. He is currently being held on $245,000 bond.
Feeney and Williams said that they were surprised that the incident happened at the apartment complex, as there has not been a history of crime in the area.
“I don’t think this is at all a bad place to be,” Feeney said. “Its just a freak accident and nobody should think this is a bad area.”
Williams added, “It shows how bold he was to come in here alone.”
