Man Keeps Wife Company During Isolated Cancer Treatment (Photos)

A California teen’s photo of her father keeping her mother company while she was in isolation for cancer treatment went viral.

Mackenna Newman posted the photo to Twitter – showing her father sitting outside of her mother’s room while she was getting radiation treatment for thyroid cancer. The teen said her dad was outside the room “the entire time.”

“My mom has to stay in her room in isolation for her cancer radiation so my dad set up a desk at her door to keep her company and I’m crying,” the caption alongside the photo read. 

Newman told BuzzFeed that she thought the photo was “sweet because they are so in love.”

The post quickly went viral, with many applauding the couple and expressing strong emotions over the love the parents had for each other. 

“This is the cutest thing ever, I can’t,” Twitter user wrote in response. 

Newman said she was shocked by the responses she got from her tweet.

“The amount of love I’ve received is crazy and I didn’t expect any of it, but I’m so grateful,” she said. 

The teen’s mother said that her husband’s devotion to her isn’t uncommon and has been frequent during her battle with cancer.

“Jon goes to every doctor’s appointment, every blood test, every surgery, every radiation,” she told BuzzFeed. “And, as you can see, if he can’t be by my side he is as close as he can get!”

“Their LOVE for one another must be speechless and so deep. I had thyroid cancer too fortunately I did not have to isolate myself from love ones. Yet the love was there. God bless you and your family and get well soon,” one Mad World News reader commented on the site’s Facebook page.

“Awesome dad & husband. Hopefully the teen girl gets the same kind of man. I think it only takes both husband n wife to love each other the way they want to be loved. My prayers go to the family!” another wrote.

“What a beautiful heart felt story!” another added. 

“I had thyroid cancer and I can tell you…this is so sweet. Like…I spent 3 days in isolation and even though I’m an introvert, I just wanted to talk to people. My mom had to leave my food on the corner of my dresser and walk out quickly. It was so hard. This is just incredibly sweet,” one BuzzFeed reader added.
