Harry Reid: Trump Will Bleed America Dry (Video)
The Senate Minority Leader, Democratic Sen. Harry Reid of Nevada, has asserted that GOP nominee Donald Trump would bleed the U.S. economy dry if he is elected president (video below).
On Sept. 15, Reid took the Senate floor to blast the GOP nominee, characterizing him as a self-interested fraud.
“Donald Trump is only trying to help one person — Donald Trump,” Reid said, according to The Blaze. “I don’t care if he wants to be president or city commissioner, Donald Trump is in it to benefit Donald Trump.”
Reid referenced Trump University, the defunct business schools owned by the business mogul that are now engaged in several civil fraud lawsuits.
Reid described Trump as “a spoiled brat, raised in plenty, who inherited a fortune and used his money to make more money.”
The Nevada senator cited Trump University as evidence that the GOP nominee had amassed his fortune “by swindling working men and women. Why would he change as president? The answer is simple: Trump won’t change. He is asking us to let him get rich scamming America.”
Reid asserted that Trump had no empathy for the middle class and called him “a human leech who will bleed the country and sit at his golf resort laughing at the money he has made, even though working people have been hurt and ruined.”
The Senate Minority Leader has been among Trump’s harshest critics. This was not even the first scathing verbal attack that Reid has launched against the GOP nominee this week.
The day before, on Sept. 14, Reid blasted the Senate Judiciary Committee chair Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa for blocking any hearings for President Barack Obama’s SCOTUS appointee, Judge Merrick Garland.
During his remarks on the Senate floor, Reid scolded Grassley for reserving the appointment of a new SCOTUS Justice for a potential President Trump, The Huffington Post reports.
“Donald Trump is an American nightmare,” Reid stated. “He’s the most unqualified party presidential candidate from a major party that anyone can remember. He’s a bigot, he’s a scam artist, he won’t show us his tax return, and Sen. Grassley is holding the Supreme Court vacant for this man.”
That same day, Reid told The Washington Post that Trump would not be able to get a casino license in Nevada.
“No question about it,” Reid said. “Not a chance. I may not be an expert on a lot of stuff, but I’m an expert on gaming licenses. You can’t file 14 bankruptcies, cheat people out of stuff. In gaming circles, if somebody does something bad once, you can’t get a gaming license. He’s done something bad his whole life.”
Trump actually acquired a Nevada gaming license in 2004 but has so far declined to use it. Reid dismissed that detail, asserting that the GOP nominee would not be able to attain one in 2016 amid new revelations about his record.
