Donald Trump Halts Game Of Golf & Approaches Young Couple At Country Club, Has 5 Words For Them
President Donald Trump halted a golf game at his resort in Bedminster, New Jersey, to greet guests at a wedding that was taking place on the property.
In a clip shared by WPVI on Twitter, Trump was seen sharing a brief moment with guests at the wedding, posing for pictures and greeting the party.
“Everyone having a good time?” Trump asked, before taking a picture with a man next to him and then walking away.
Many readers praised Trump for taking time out of his day to greet the wedding party.
“Donald J. Trump is president of the people & for the people!” one Mad World News reader commented on the site’s Facebook page.
“Contrast this with Obama golfing in Hawaii when he forced a couple to move their wedding away from the golf course so he could play. Trump is the people’s president,” another wrote.
“This was a very nice gesture by our president!! This wedding will not be forgotten by any guest and the married couple!!” another added.
Meanwhile, former Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele said in an interview with ABC News Australia that he believes Trump is “obsessed with his own self-image.”
Steele said in the interview that Trump was concerned mainly with his poll results and his level of popularity with the American people.
“This is who he is. This is a guy obsessed with his own self-image; how his numbers are doing, whether everything is playing to a narrative he has developed in his own head,” Steele said.
Steele also elaborated on the differences between the presidency and Trump’s role in his business empire.
“When he said he wanted something done at Trump Tower, it got done,” Steele said. “No one said: ‘No sir, I really don’t think we should do that,’ because if you did you didn’t come into work the next day, as there was no job. That is not the way Washington works and that is certainly not the way the presidency works.”
Presidents, he explained, don’t have as much power as commonly believed.
“You have 535 members of Congress who have a different view. You have Cabinet secretaries who, while they might work for you, still carry out different agendas,” Steele said. “You’ve got the voters, the press and all those other interests out there who have a say about what you just said, and that’s not something Donald deals with too well.”
