Mom Gives Birth To Twins, Has Sick Use For Them

An Alabama couple is facing charges for physically abusing their 4-month-old twin babies.

According to the Daily Mail, Marion Austin Dycus, 20, and his girlfriend, Jordan Lanie Swenson, 19, were arrested on charges of aggravated child abuse on May 3.

The couple was under investigation after employees of Birmingham Children’s Hospital of Alabama alerted authorities that the infants showed signs of physical abuse.

Dycus and Swenson brought their twins, a boy and a girl, to the hospital, where they were placed in the intensive care unit.

The baby girl had a bite mark on her face and was in respiratory distress. She also had a torn frenulum, which is the fold of skin between the lip and the gum, underneath the tongue. The baby boy was suffering from two fractured ribs. Both babies had bruises on their faces.

Police launched an investigation after the twins were brought to the hospital. On May 3, authorities say there was enough evidence to make an arrest.

An arrest warrant states that the parents did “torture, willfully abuse, cruelly beat, or otherwise willfully maltreat the child by causing physical injury which created the substantial risk of death on multiple occasions.”

Police believe the abuse began around the time of the twins’ birth on Jan. 1 and lasted until April 27.

According to AL.com, Dycus and Swenson were held on $1 million bond because they were arrested on aggravated child abuse charges.
