Indiana Man Arrested For ‘Scalping’ Toddler
A Russiaville, Indiana, man was arrested after he reportedly “scalped” a 3-year-old girl.
Noel Maxwell, the mother of the girl and the suspect’s girlfriend, went to check on her daughter after waking up and discovered swelling on the side of her head. Andrew Milburn, Maxwell’s boyfriend, claimed it was from the girl falling off of a chair at his parents’ home, WXIN reported.
When Maxwell rushed her daughter to the hospital, however, doctors determined that the injuries were consistent with “scalping” — when the the scalp is forcibly removed from the skull. This causes internal bleeding as well as severe bruising and swelling.
Subsequent investigation revealed that Milburn struck the girl multiple times on the head and pulled her hair. He was arrested on a preliminary charge of battery resulting in serious bodily injury to a person less than 14 years of age. He was held on $25,000 bond.
The story quickly went viral, with many people questioning the mother’s judgment regarding her boyfriend.
“What a savage brute to treat a child like that! But why would any mother trust her 3 year old daughter with a boyfriend for an outing without her along,” one reader commented on Mad World News’ Facebook page.
“Why do these mothers bring lions in their home. And when they abuse their children it’s to late They don’t know these guys. They don’t want them they want ur kids. Stop thinking u have to have a guy in ur life. Put ur kids first and stop bringing home men Be a mom. Ur child’s protector,” another wrote.
Some readers refrained from criticizing the mother, and instead expressed disgust in the boyfriend for his despicable actions.
“Another child abused by a monster. People need to start reporting these animals. This definitely isn’t the first time the that this man has hurt a child,” one reader commented.
“$25,000 bond? What is that judge thinking? There should be no bond for this animal,” another added.
