Team Captures First Photo Of 3,200-Year-Old Tree (Photos)
A massive tree in California is so large that it has never before been captured in a single photograph – until now.
In the Sierra Nevadas in California stands a 3,200-year-old tree nicknamed “The President” by locals.
According to Wimp, the tree is 247 feet tall and 45,000 cubic feet in volume.
The awe-inspiring tree is 3,200-years-old and shows no sign of stopping its growth any time soon. The tree’s growth rate is one of the fastest in the world, adding about 1 cubic meter of wood every single year.
Many have tried to capture the incredible tree in a photo, but nobody has been successful, until now. However, it took a whole team to make the photo happen.
A team from National Geographic took on the task of photographing The President, using a system of pulleys and levers.
The process took 32 days to complete. 126 photographs were taken and pieced together to make one incredible photo of the tree.
