As Trumps Arrive In Texas, Reporters Freak Over Message On Melania’s Hat

Melanie Trump sparked controversy for wearing high heels while leaving Camp David for Texas, where she and President Donald Trump visited amid the devastating Hurricane Harvey. The hat she wore when she emerged upon arrival in Texas, however, qucikly went viral. 

The First Lady was pictured leaving the Maryland compound with her husband, and was criticized on social media for wearing high heels to a disaster zone.

“Melania. Is. Wearing. Six. Inch. Stiletto. Heels. To. Visit. A. Disaster. Zone,” one Twitter user wrote, Daily Mail reported. “These. People. Just….These. People.”

“Melania ensures that at least her heels will be 5 inches clear of any floods. Utterly idiotic, makes her look like a hooke…oh, wait,” another wrote. “What was your first clue that this Texas trip was to be nothing more than a fake, useless photo op? Was it Melania’s six-inch spike heels?”

When the couple reached Texas, however, Melania changed into a more appropriate outfit that included white sneakers, and a black cap with simple text across the front that read, “FLOTUS.” Some criticized the First Lady for wearing a hat with her title on it, but others brushed it off as insignificant.

Despite the controversy surrounding Melania’s attire, some readers slammed critics for focusing on her outfit.

“OMG!!! First her shoes and now her cap… instead of bashing the President and his wife, why don’t you snowflakes get off your happy or unhappy behinds and do something productive.. like figure out a way YOU can help these poor people in Texas. Grow the hell up!!!” one Mad World News reader commented on the site’s Facebook page.

“Melania is a very educated. intelligent and beautiful lady. She also speaks five different languages. We have not had a First Lady like her since Jackie Kennedy. A true loving and caring lady who loves children dearly and a wonderful Christian. The people who have a problem with her are trolls who should live in bushes,” another wrote.

“After reading the comments regarding the media’s criticism of Mrs. Trump, I’m proud to say the American people are becoming vocal at the petty criticism thrown out every day by the left. The left is having less and less influence on the American people. You better watch out or you, the far left and that includes the media, Hollywood and politicians, will find yourselves totally insignificant. Won’t that be awesome!!!!!” another added.

Some criticized the media for perpetuating the controversy.

“This is so ridiculous. The media of all types need to find something else to do, instead of criticizing everything the Trumps do. What’s wrong with a hat identifying her as First Lady?? That is exactly who she is!!!!” one reader commented.

“I’m a Texan, and I thought the First Lady looked fabulous in her DC outfit and her Corpus Christi outfit. Thank you for your visit, love, concern, and your personal assistance. Thank you for being a President and First Lady that truly care about Americans. God Bless You Both,” another added.
