Obama: Trump Constantly Showing Why He Shouldn’t Be President

President Barack Obama said Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump makes his own case for why he shouldn’t be president.

“Frankly, I’m tired of talking about her opponent,” Obama said as he made the case for Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, according to Politico. “I don’t have to make the case against her opponent because every time he talks he makes the case against his own candidacy.”

Speaking at a function for the Hillary Victory Fund, a fund-raising arm for the Clinton campaign that has raised more than $142 million, according to Open Secrets, Obama urged Clinton supporters to still take the election seriously, although it might seem like an easy win due to Trump’s flawed campaign and constant negative media attention devoted to his continuous gaffes.

“There’s still a lot of uncertainty out there,” Obama said. “And if we are not running scared until the day after the election, we are going to be making a grave mistake.”

He added: “We are going to continue to have to write checks. We are going to continue to have to make phone calls, and rally people behind her candidacy. We are still going to have to fight what has been an unrelenting negative campaign against her that has made a dent in the opinion of people even who are inclined to vote for her.”

According to the latest NBC News|Survey Monkey poll, Clinton beats Trump by only 6 points in a 4-way race that includes Libertarian Party nominee Gary Johnson and Green Party nominee Jill Stein. And low opinions of Clinton are still high, with 59 percent of voters having an unfavorable impression of the former Secretary of State, who has taken a hit to her credibility due to a classified email scandal and a refusal to release transcripts of her speeches to Wall Street firms, for which she has been paid millions to give.

Even so, Trump is still less liked, with 64 percent having an unfavorable impression of the real estate mogul, who has refused to release any of his tax returns, despite claiming to have a net worth of more than $10 billion.
