Post-Debate Poll: Clinton Leads Key Swing States
Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton leads Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump in several key swing states, according to the first post-debate numbers from Public Policy Polling.
In Florida, Clinton leads Trump 45 percent to 43 percent in a 4-way race that includes Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson and Green Party nominee Jill Stein. In a 2-way race, Clinton’s lead is only slightly bigger, 48 percent to 45 percent.
In Pennsylvania, Clinton leads Trump 45 percent to 39 percent in a 4-way race. When the choice is just between Clinton and Trump, Clinton’s lead is actually slightly less at 49 to 44 percent.
Ohio, the other crucial swing state, was not included in the latest Public Policy Polling numbers. According to the HuffPost poll tracker, Trumpp has a razor-thin lead over Clinton in Ohio: 42.1 percent to 42 percent.
But in the PPP polling, Clinton also leads in North Carolina, Colorado, and Virginia.
In Virginia, a state that has shifted heavily Democratic in recent years and the home state of Clinton’s Vice Presidential running-mate, Sen. Tim Kaine, Clinton leads 46 to 40 in a 4-way race and 49 to 43 in a 4-way race.
In Colorado, Clinton leads Trump 46 percent to 40 percent in a 4-way race and 51 percent to 44 percent head-to-head.
And in North Carolina, Clinton leads Trump 44 percent to 42 percent in a 4-way race. Head-to-head, Clinton leads Trump 49 to 44 percent.
The latest numbers indicate Clinton is enjoying a bounce in the polls after the first debate. In prior weeks, her lead had been slipping and Trump was the one getting a bounce.
But the GOP nominee’s momentum might be slowed down for now, especially among women voters.
According to an NBC News|SurveyMonkey poll, 27 percent of women think “worse” of Trump after the first debate, while 30 percent said their opinion of Clinton has improved.
