Ohio Teen Found Unconscious, Intoxicated In China After Flying 7,000 Miles To Be Rejected By Girl
A lovesick Ohio teen was discovered unconscious in China after decided to see in person the woman he had been talking to online. The 18-year-old, known only by the surname Pratt, fell in love with a woman after seeing her photos and communicating with her on the internet.
The man traveled 7,000 miles to Jiangshan, a city in Zhejiang province, to see the young woman. Pratt showed up spontaneously and did not even know her name, according to the Daily Mail.
He told police officers he promised the woman he would visit her, giving authorities reason believe the woman did not take Pratt’s words seriously. After he called her numerous times, she told him to leave her alone, before blocking his number.
When his attempts to contact her failed, Pratt became depressed and started drinking. He ended up passing out next to the Xu River by a staircase, where police found him unconscious and suffering from hypothermia.
“He was unconscious and lying in a pool of his own vomit. It looks as if he might have fallen in the water at some stage as his clothes and shoes were soaked. To be honest he was so inebriated, he could easily have drowned. It was only a short distance to the water,” a Cheng Bei police spokesperson said, according to Qianjiang TV.
Authorities tried to contact the young woman, who declined to see Pratt in spite of the near-death experience he had just endured.
He was taken to a local hospital, but did not have enough money to pay for his hotel room. However, the hotel manager took pity on the teen and gave him the room for free.
Pratt later recuperated and returned to Ohio, according to KRON.
“We followed his progress until he left the country, and he is already on the plane back to the United States,” a local police representative said.
When contacted by the Daily Mail, Pratt denied he had traveled to China for a girl and got stood up.
