Megyn Kelly Shocked By What Jane Fonda Says To Her

Megyn Kelly had an awkward moment during her interview with actress Jane Fonda on her new NBC morning show.

Fonda, 79, and costar Robert Redford, 80, appeared on “Megyn Kelly Today” on Sept. 27 to talk about their new movie, “Our Souls At Night,” Page Six reported. At one point, Kelly brought up Fonda’s history of plastic surgery.

“You’ve been an example to everyone in how to age beautifully and with strength and unapologetically,” Kelly said, as the studio audience applauded. “You admit you’ve had work done, which I think is to your credit, but you look amazing. I read that you said you felt you’re not proud to admit that you’ve had work done. Why not?”

But Fonda appeared taken aback by the question, responding, “We really want to talk about that now?”

“Well, one of the things people think about when they look at you is how amazing you look,” Kelly said.

“Well, thanks,” Fonda replied. “Good attitude, good posture. I take care of myself. But let me tell you why I love this movie that we did, ‘Our Souls at Night,’ rather than plastic surgery.”

The question did not appear to sit well with Fonda, who later spoke with ET Canada’s Sangita Patel about the interview.

“I was a little bit shocked by her question. Were you shocked by it?” Sangita asked Fonda.

“A little bit. Given the fact that we don’t have a lot of time and Bob is right here, it’s a weird thing to bring up — whether I’ve had plastic surgery or not,” Fonda answered. “I have and I’ve talked about it. Seemed like the wrong time and place to ask that question.”

“I love the way you handled it,” Sangita responded.

Redford also chimed in about the interview with Kelly.

“It didn’t involve me. Of course, I haven’t had [plastic surgery],” Redford said. “I think Jane didn’t want to go there. I think she didn’t want to have the show turn into about her, her surgery or her look. It was about the quality of the performance.”

“I wasn’t paying a lot of attention,” Redford added, laughing.

“Our Souls At Night” will premiere on Netflix on Sept. 29.

Kelly previously sparked controversy while interviewing the cast of “Will & Grace.” She invited a fan onto the stage and asked, “Is it true that you became a lawyer, and you became gay, because of Will?”
