Trump Visits Arlington Grave, Realizes Who It Is (Photos)

President Donald Trump visited Arlington National Ceremony on Memorial Day to pay tribute to fallen soldiers, and ended up visiting the grave of the son of his Homeland Security secretary.

Trump’s visit to Arlington included meeting with two mothers of fallen soldiers and paying tribute to Robert Kelly, the son of Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly. Alongside Vice President Mike Pence, Trump paid his respects to Kelly’s son and gave a speech in his honor.

Before leaving the cemetery, Trump spoke with two grieving mothers.

“Mr. Trump, Mr. Trump, my son was killed in Afghanistan in 2011, and nobody made any effort to acknowledge,” Alison Malachowski, the mother of Sgt. Jimmy Malachowski, told the president, CBS News reported.

“I did,” Trump responded.

“It means a lot to me, it really does, that you take that,” she said. “My son loved this country very, very much … Jimmy knew he wasn’t coming home, and he said, ‘Mama, I hope that people don’t forget that I ever lived.’ And if you could remember just Jimmy, that would mean so much to me,” the mother replied.

“I will remember, I will remember,” the president responded.

Many readers thanked Trump for supporting soldiers and showing compassion to the mothers of the fallen soldiers.

“Everyone can say what they want but as a mom this speaks volumes to me that this man has my sons back and every other military man and woman serving this great country!!!” one Conservative Daily reader commented on the site’s Facebook page.

“No better way of true American Patriot than to HONOR those who gave it all for their country than not just a President who honors our men and women of the military, but a cabinet of men who served, who as Kelley are a Gold Star Family and as the Pence family have children who serve!” another added.

Others criticized the president for past comments about soldiers that sparked controversy.

“I don’t understand how any member of the armed forces can support this heel- spurred draft dodger – especially when he said that POWs are not heroes and ‘we don’t like people who get caught.'” one reader commented. “I felt nauseated listening to him talk at the tomb of the unknown. Disgraceful.”

“You people who are still thinking Donald trump is a ‘good president,'” another added. “Are either very easily fooled or just plain ignorant! He is a pathological liar and a con man….. wake up or stay in your plastic bubble while he destroys the greatest. Country on earth. I can’t believe people actually trust that lowlife who is playing footie with the Russians because he owes them. BIG TIME!!!”
