Kim Kardashian’s Robbery Story Falls Apart, Now Come The Consequences
As Kim Kardashian’s alleged gunpoint robbery is quickly becoming the biggest story in the news cycle, experts are beginning to question how such a major heist was even possible.
The reality TV star was in Paris, staying in a luxury apartment within a private mansion according to CNN. Her sisters, Kourtney and Kendall Kardashian, were at a nightclub with Kim’s bodyguard while her mother, Kris Jenner, was staying in a nearby hotel. This left the lone Kim vulnerable for attack.
Two men dressed as police officers allegedly made their way into the apartment by threatening the concierge. They then bound and gagged Kim, forcing her into the bathtub while they took off with approximately $10 million in jewelry, according to CNN.
However, the reported story has been raising some eyebrows and causing security experts to question the validity of the Kardashians’ claims.
Many seem to question why exactly security was so loose. Not only was Kim left completely alone in the apartment, but there was also no video surveillance equipment inside or outside the building.
Matt Fiddes, Michael Jackson’s former bodyguard, calls the whole situation “fishy,” according to The Daily Mail, saying that “she should have absolutely not have been left alone without security.”
Fiddes goes on to add that Kim’s bodyguard Pascal Duvier should have only been with his client, not her sister. Duvier seems to have taken additional risks by having a social media account and regularly posting pictures with his high-profile clients, which could give people clues as to how to find the celebrities.
“When I worked for Michael, we weren’t even allowed to tell our wives or girlfriends where in the world we were,” said Fiddes to the Mail.
Private investigator Patricia E. D’Orsa-Dijamco found the incident equally troubling, saying that it’s absolutely ridiculous that such a luxury mansion would not invest in security cameras.
“It is especially odd that a hotel where celebrities stay and supposedly is so secret you can only book a room if you have a login on their website, but you cannot readily locate the hotel’s website or telephone number, does not have security cameras,” she told Fox News. “Security cameras, as well as online remote monitoring, are very inexpensive.”
Former undercover DEA agent Michael Levine even went as far as to say that the whole robbery was a publicity stunt.
“[The lack of video surveillance] fits in with a publicity stunt, people setting up a whole scammed robbery, and/or someone on the inside knowing the weakness and exploiting it into for the robbery and/or scam,” he told Fox.
The Kardashians have yet to comment on the incident and a spokesperson for the family only says that Kim is “badly shaken but physically unharmed,” according to CNN.
