Can You Find The Hidden Words In This Picture? (Photo)
Everyone seems to love a good puzzle and optical illusion. Whether it’s an odd photo that goes viral for its challenging appearance or a fun game, people love to exercise their minds and decipher puzzles and illusions.
One image that’s going viral for its particularly difficult challenge is a cartoon showing two children paying in their living room. The boy can be seen building a fort with the help of his sister, who is carrying a blanket and pillow.
See if you can find six words in the photo!
“Found all 6 in about three minutes,” one Newsiosity reader wrote on the site’s Facebook page after completing the game.
“Found all 6 in less than 10 seconds,” another boasted.
Cognitive neuroscientist Sandra Bond Chapman explained the benefits and downsides of brain games and puzzles in a recent piece for Psychology Today.
Chapman said that there is “insufficient scientific evidence” that suggests brain training in its current form can improve someone’s cognitive ability. It is true, however, that they improve the function that is being trained in the game.
Crossword puzzles, for example, can become easier over time because the more you do them, the more you train your brain for that activity. Chapman advised giving the brain some “downtime” in addition to doing games, and “gearing up for deeper level thinking.”
Some steps she recommended taking to promote brain health include stopping habits that work against it, such as multitasking. Research reportedly shows that the brain can really only do one thing at a time satisfactorily. Constantly going from activity to activity makes it harder for the brain to work at its proper level of function.
The key to promoting brain health is the frontal lobe and how it connects with other parts of the brain.
“Our brain can focus on vast details, but it was built to do so much more, like innovative thinking, appreciating different perspectives, and figuring out new plans,” Chapman said.
