Former Afghan Child Bride: I Was Mutilated By Husband

A former child bride had her ears cut off by her husband after he became suspicious she was speaking to other men.

Zarina, from Afghanistan, was married her husband when she was 13. She says he attacked her while she was sleeping at their home. The husband allegedly woke up, tied his wife up, then mutilated her.

“I haven’t committed any sin,” she told BBC. “I don’t know why my husband did this to me.”

Zarina, who is now 23, said her husband tried to prevent her from seeing her parents. But when she did go to visit them, he became suspicious of her.

“He is a very suspicious man and often accused me of talking to strange men when I went to visit my parents,” she said, Daily Mail reported.

The young woman is now asking for her husband to be arrested. He fled their home after the attack and is on the run.

Many readers responded to the heartbreaking story online.

“Sick thinking!!” another added. “It is so hard to believe how bad the woman are treated and nothing seems to change. What kind of religion is that? Thank you President Trump for trying to get this Country safe for all of us here in America. Do what you have to do. All the civilized people are behind you, 100 %. These poor little girls that have to go thru this and it just continues. We don’t need this in the United States of America!”

Others spoke out against the human rights abuses towards girls and young women in majority Muslim countries like Afghanistan.

“You cowards!!” one Daily Mail reader commented. “Take that brutality to yourself! How dare you touch innocent souls and think your time is not being cut short. May the fear of God creep into your dreams every day you roam this earth. And women here think they have to protest because they feel they have no rights?? Give it a rest you hypocrites! There are women of every age suffering that have no rights at all! What a slap in the face of those who are defenseless, alone and fear for their lives. You all are fortunate!! WE are fortunate! …I’m disgusted!!”
