Woman Floored By Note From Cop After What She Was Caught Doing In Car

A woman took to Facebook to share a card she was given by a police officer who pulled her over after her father died.

Gina Perry-Headen, of Belleville, Illinois, shared a photo of the card — which was sent to her by Deputy Dan Hill of the St. Clair County Police Department after he pulled her over.

“While I sat and waited I was reminiscing about my dad like always lately. The officer returned to my car and said its your lucky day, we were born on the same day and year, slow down and have a good day. I smiled and said thank you. He walked away and I broke down and started crying,” she wrote in a post. Hill approached Perry-Headen and startled her by knocking on her window.

“I told him I was sad, I just lost my dad. He said take a minute and breath. He talked to me a minute then helped me back into traffic. Today I received this beautiful card in the mail,” she wrote.

“Mrs. Headen,” the card read. “My condolence on the loss of your father. I’m sure he was a great man who loved his family. I pray that your tears of sadness become tears of joy in remembering his legacy.”

Hill then quoted a Bible verse underneath his message to Headen.

“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. And death shall be no more. Neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away,” the verse read.

Many readers praised the officer for his kind, thoughtful deed.

“What a a great policeman sending this woman a note in the mail—after he found out why she was crying—–there are good police officers around never forget as they have a tender heart just like we do,” one Mad World News reader commented on the site’s Facebook page.

“Another example of a good man following up with words to encourage her!” another wrote. “Deputy Dan, you are an example that should be followed!”

“There are so many good people out there that want to help others sometimes it’s hard to see amongst all the chaos and tragedy in our world,” another wrote on Headen’s post. “Peace will find you and you will be able to live in his legacy. Prayers to you!!”

“That is so beautiful and gave me goose bumps when I read it,” another commented. “What an amazing officer. I don’t think he has any idea how enormous that small, but powerful gesture of kindness means to you. God bless him and his amazing heart.”
