Dad Hits Back At Teacher After Anti-Trump Test Question (Photo)

A New York father, Vincent Ungro, fired back at a Staten Island teacher after Ungro’s daughter’s homework assignment featured an anti-President Trump question.

“President Trump speaks in a very superior and _________ manner insulting many people. He needs to be more __________ so that the American people respect and admire him,” the question read.

The following question was related to former President Obama.

“Barack Obama set a _________ when he became the first African American president,” it read.

Ungro told his daughter not to answer either question, and wrote a note to her teacher in response.

“Please keep your political views to yourself and do not try to influence my children on them. Thank you,” he wrote.

Adria Zawatsky, the girl’s teacher, took 15 points off the assignment for the answers being blank, which Ungro said he felt was “vindictive.”

“This woman is forcing my child to put words on a piece of paper describing our president in a disparaging manner,” he told the New York Post. “Her political opinion should be left at home.”

Zawatsky later responded to Ungro in an email, but he was not satisfied with her apology.

“Firstly, I do not believe I was expressing a political view at all on my vocabulary sheet. My reference to President Trump was about his personality traits rather than his ability as a president,” she wrote. “The media is nonstop on very similar references. This is considered freedom of speech and I feel I have the same right as they do.”

The Department of Education also responded to the matter in a statement.

“The DOE encourages respectful conversations about civics that help students become more thoughtful and engaged citizens, but staff are directed to maintain neutrality when discussing political issues in school,” the statement from spokesman Michael Aciman read.

Commenters expressed strong opinions on the controversy.

“How sad and repulsive is this, teachers that I always had respect for pushing their political views on our children is absolutely disgusting. I don’t care who is in office you don’t teach a child to disrespect our president,” one Mad World News reader commented on the site’s Facebook page.

“Man, I’m so tired of left-wing and the right-wing cherry picking isolated incidents to make the opposition look bad. That’s like saying, ‘Crows are black. So all black birds are crows.’ Come on people. How about trying this for a change: Instead of trying to win an argument or changing someone’s mind how about trying to understand where they are coming from?” another added.
