Dad Trolls School Asking Why Son Is Absent
A British father who took his teenage son on vacation gave a brilliant response to his school as to why he was absent.
43-year-old Simon Morgan and his wife Claire Morgan went on an impromptu family holiday with their 15-year-old son James on March 3.
Simon received a text message from Stanwell School in South Wales asking why the teenager was absent for two days.
The message read: “James Morgan was absent from registration. Please can you text a reply with the reason for this absence.”
Simon responded by sharing a photo with him and his son James on a beach in Dubai, outside the Burj Al’arab luxury hotel, reports Huffington Post.
“We only found out about the holiday the day before as it was through the travel agency that we run, so we genuinely didn’t have time to plan,” said Simon.
“I know I should have told the school beforehand, but if you ask on things like this unfortunately they often say they don’t approve of it, so I took a gamble.
“They didn’t reply to the text so I think it paid off.”
Simon says James is an excellent student, despite missing a few days.
“When I got the message I decided to send the picture because I think a picture tells a thousand words,” he said.
“I think from the photo it was then quite apparent where he was.
“It was light-hearted banter, though admittedly it’s not the first time I have done it. James obviously thought it was fantastic and all of his friends loved it too.
“My wife takes my humour in her stride – though she does say that one day it might bite me on the back side.”
This is not the first time Simon has played a prank on his son’s school, according to Mirror. Once, when James was late to class, he offered to keep the teen in a cardboard box outside of the school and feed him gruel as punishment for being late.
Simon’s antics have earned him the reputation of being the “coolest dad at school.”
