FBI Finds Islamist Training Camp In Alabama, Says It’s Connected To A Larger Terror Cell In US

Most people think that Islamic terrorist training has only happened in countries like Afghanistan, Syria, or Iraq. However, a discovery made by the FBI in Alabama has turned that assumption on its head.

Located in the rural parts of Tuskegee, Alabama, specifically five miles outside the city, the FBI found a homegrown terror compound which at first looked like any other garbage dump. Investigations later confirmed that this so-called dump was connected to the New Mexico terror camp discovered last year.

The FBI further added the small terrorist group was using this compound as a makeshift obstacle course, similar to the ones militaries often use. As to who owns the compound, authorities have named the same person who ran the New Mexico camp, Siraj Wahhaj.

This group was known to have trained and used starving children in acts of violence, like school shootings. Upon their discovery, Wahhaj, along with four other suspects were apprehended and charged with conspiracy in carrying out attacks in the U.S.

The FBI’s Counterterrorism Division’s Assistant Director, Michael Garrity, had previously made a statement regarding the threat of domestic terrorism. He further added that living in a small town or a rural state does not keep you safe from individuals who may or may not be engaged in terrorist activities.

Fortunately, with the discovery of the Alabama compound, authorities were able to shut it down before any harm came to the townspeople or country. However, they made a gruesome discovery of what seemed to be the remains of one of the New Mexico children Wahhaj had kept.

With such news shocking the lives of U.S. citizens, it is essential to remember that panicking or worrying all day is not going to get anyone anywhere. Experts advise citizens practice the method of “see something, say something” where they report anything or any person they may deem suspicious.
