George Michael Did Something Amazing Before His Death
Following the death of pop icon George Michael on Dec. 25, several people have come forward with stories of the singer’s quiet generosity, including the story of one woman who had her IVF treatments paid for.
British TV host Richard Osman took to Twitter to share the story, explaining that the woman was someone who appeared on the British version of “Deal or No Deal,” reports People.
“A woman on ‘Deal Or No Deal’ told us she needed [$18,000] for IVF treatment,” Osman said. “George Michael secretly phoned the next day and gave her the [$18,000].” The woman later learned her treatments would be paid for.
Others came forward with similar stories of generosity from Michael, including one woman who said he worked at a homeless shelter anonymously.
“I’ve never told anyone,” she tweeted. “He asked we didn’t. That’s who he was.”
Another Twitter user revealed that Michael once gave a stranger in a cafe more than $30,000 after the singer overheard her crying about being in debt.
Meanwhile, celebrities are reportedly lining up to honor the singer in what is rumored to be shaping up as a tribute concert.
“It’s early stages yet but George’s pals are determined to deliver a send-off to remember for him,” a source said, the Mirror reported.
“It’s likely to be in the form of a memorial concert and to raise money for the causes close to George’s heart including nurses and LGBT rights. George was a dear friend to so many people, and there is no way that they will let him go without a send-off fit for a music legend. He made friends across the worlds of music, acting, modeling, charitable work and the impact he had fighting for LGBT rights. Everyone is heartbroken, he had an impact on so many peoples’ lives.”
