Horse Gently Rocks Crying Baby (Video)

A mother set her baby on the floor of a barn and what happened next was completely unexpected. A clip of the incident is going viral (video below).

Tracy Vega brought her baby into a stable to meet her horse, Donato, according to Pawpulous. After a few minutes, her baby started to fuss and cry. Donato immediately turned his attention to the baby and did something nobody expected: He began rocking her in her carrier.

Many small children are afraid of animals, especially when the animal is as large as a horse. Donato could sense the baby’s fear, and wanted to let her know that he wasn’t going to hurt her. The baby was immediately calmed by Donato’s gentle nudging of the carrier and stared up at the horse in wonder and she rocked back and forth.

As soon as Donato stopped rocking the baby, she would begin to cry again, so he continued to keep the infant happy.

Many viewers were touched by the heartwarming video and shared their own stories of horses being compassionate to humans on the Horseaddict Facebook page.

“Horses have a sense that humans don’t they know when a human is vulnerable and won’t harm them,” one viewer shared. “My son is a spastic Quadriplegic and all his life he has loved being around horses because they respond to his presence ! Quite often a horse will put its head on David’s knees as he sits in his wheelchair! He responds by stroking the horses nose with the back of his hand! The Horses love it and you just know that they will not harm him! Magic animals, are horses!”

“I brushed my horse every day while pregnant and when I started to show she’d rub her face on my belly,” another user commented. “I took my baby to see her when she was born. The first thing she did was nuzzle my belly then looked up and nuzzled the baby. They’re inseparable when I take my daughter out to see her now. Other animals understand so much more than what most people give them credit for.”

Other users worried about the baby’s safety after seeing the video.

“I’m a horse lover,” one viewer wrote. “Been around horses forever. No way would I allow that. Accidents happen. Why purposefully endanger your child? Not cool. Yes introduce the child to the horse. Nothing is 100% bombproof and predictable. Not people. Not animals. To me it’s just over the top. Very cute, but over the top.”

“I am all for letting any animal you may trust with your baby’s life meet you babies but under absolute total supervision,” another user commented. “In less than a second a horse that size could have grabbed that car seat and launched it 15 ft or more in the air.”
