Janet Jackson Splits From Wissam Al Mana After What He Did To Her Mother

Following singer Janet Jackson’s high profile divorce from husband Wissam Al Mana, questions and speculation arose about the reason behind it – made worse by allegations of Al Mana’s controlling nature and Jackson’s sudden change in appearance.

Jackson and Al Mana announced their divorce months after giving birth to a son, and though the split was said to have been amicable, some sources said that there had been trouble for months.

“She thought he had become too controlling during the pregnancy and she had already allowed him to dictate her appearance and even the way she performed at concerts,” one source told Page Six. During her recent concerts, the 50-year-old singer reportedly toned down her stage outfits and began dressing more modestly – showing less skin than ever before and going against her trademark look. In addition, Jackson reportedly declined to do any music videos that featured provocative dancing.

Photos taken of the couple in London in October of 2016 showed Jackson covered almost completely in black clothes – including an oversized poncho with a hood and baggy black pants.

Al Mana is Muslim, and rumors circulated for some time that Jackson had converted to the religion. The rumors were never confirmed to be true, though friends said she had taken to Muslim teachings early in the couple’s relationship.

“She feels like she has found a home with her new religion,” a friend said at the time, Daily Mail reported. “She has spent a great deal of time studying it. The days of raunchy dance moves and sexual lyrics are long gone.”

The final straw for their relationship, according to one source, was the fact that Al Mana seemed to show no concern for the fact that Jackson’s mother, Katherine, was reportedly the victim of elder abuse at the hands of her nephew Trent. Katherine recently traveled to London, where her daughter lived with Al Mana, to visit and returned to Los Angeles soon after.

“That’s when Janet made her decision that there was no turning back,” the source told Page Six. “She was worried about her mother — and Wissam showed little to no concern.”

The speculation surrounding the split quickly went viral, with expressing sympathy towards Jackson.

“I’m sorry she experienced this and happy she found the inner strength to leave. Domestic abuse is a horrible thing,” one Mad World News reader commented on the site’s Facebook page.

“I will not judge her. That is so wrong and un-Christian to do. Like no one has ever gotten into a relationship that was great for a while but they it turned bad ?? Muslim or not there are many men that are abusive ! Thank God she got separated and has a chance at being a mom. Prayers for Janet and her son,” another added.
