Labrador Swims With Dolphin Friend Every Day (Video)

People all around the world are taking notice of a dog that swims out into the ocean every day to play with his unlikely best friend (video below). Tory Island, off the northwest coast of Ireland, is a popular travel destination thanks to its gorgeous views, green fields, centuries-old buildings and breathtaking landmarks.

The small island is accessible only by boat or ferry. Living among the people of Tory Island is a Labrador who has become somewhat of a mascot for those living on the island. Ben is a Labrador that has garnered quite a bit of attention for himself and for the people of Tory Island because of the unusual thing he does every day that is sure to bring a smile to your face. This young teenage singer was shocked when Keith Urban invited her on stage at his concert.

Adam Henson, the presenter of the BBC’s “Countryfile,” was shocked when he came across Ben playing with his unlikely best friend.

He was even more shocked when he learned that the two play together every day. “This is absolutely amazing,” Henson said. “Swimming around in the water, I have never seen anything like it.” Every day, Ben runs through town, straight to the water. He jumps into the ocean without hesitation and swims around to find his friend. According to Honest To Paws, Labrador retrievers are not naturally water dogs. Locals say Doogie was first spotted in the harbor off Tory Island after the body of another dolphin washed up on the shore.

Some locals believe Doogie was grieving over her mate, which is why she remains nearby to this day. YouTube users shared their thoughts on the heartwarming video of Ben and Doogie playing in the comments section. “This has got to be the best thing I’ve ever witnessed,” one viewer wrote. “I love how these two beautiful creatures get along so well. Its just beautiful!!” “I guess those two (the dolphin and the dog) are best friends,” another user commented. “Labradors are known to be wonderful swimmers and can rescue people that are drowning just like dolphins. “
