Man Arrested For Shoving Something Awful In Little Boy’s Throat

A Kansas toddler was rushed to the hospital after his mother’s boyfriend reportedly shoved a small octopus down his throat.

Police responded to a call about an unresponsive child at the 2-year-old’s home in Wichita, Kansas, KAKE reports. The boy’s mother reportedly returned home to find her boyfriend, 36-year-old Matthew Gallagher, giving her son CPR. The boy was not breathing.

The boy was rushed by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where doctors found a 2-inch baby octopus lodged in his throat. Hospital workers also discovered several facial injuries.

“I teach a lot of swim lessons with a lot of kids, shocking how someone could do that to [a] kid it’s just strange the situation,” neighbor Mitchell Wagner told KAKE.

Police say Gallagher was home alone with the toddler while the mother was at work.

Gallagher was arrested on suspicion of child abuse. He was later released from the Sedgwick County Jail on bail, according to The Wichita Eagle.
