Man Makes Troubling Find On Night Of Wedding, Immediately Kills Wife
Veronika Flippova died when she was set ablaze by her husband on the night of their wedding, after he fell asleep drunk and she slept with an ex-flame to get revenge.
Ivan Kuzmin allegedly fell asleep after drinking heavily at his own wedding reception. When Flippova found out, she sought out her ex in revenge.
In response, Kuzmin doused his sleeping bride with alcohol, allegedly used to make homemade vodka, and ignited her with a cigarette lighter.
Another version of the story suggests that the couple went out for a beer after their wedding when a fight occured between the two. When Flippova attempted to escape her husband, he chased after her and set her on fire with a lighter.
Flippova had 80 percent burns on her body and died despite extensive efforts to save her. The 27-year-old had been previously married and left behind a 10-year-old son.
Relatives have claimed that Kuzmin had hidden previous convictions from Flippova including a conviction for attempted murder and attempted rape involving an underage girl. Both convictions reportedly led to a ten year prison sentence.
“He did not have enough of a conscience to confess to Veronika that he was in prison for trying to rape an underage girl and attempted to burn the apartment to hide the evidence,” Olesya and Yuriy Prosin, relatives, said. “He is nothing but scum.”
Police in Volgograd, in southern Russia, confirmed that 30-year-old Kuzmin admitted to the murder.
Kuzmin currently faces up to 15 years in prison.
