Man Pleads Guilty To Raping Stepdaughters, Infecting Them With HIV

A British father who reportedly raped and infected his two stepdaughters with HIV has changed his plea to guilty on the second day of trial after denying the allegations. 

The 60-year-old man reportedly changed his plea after finding out that he had full-blown AIDS and is awaiting his sentence for multiple charges of raping a child under 13, sexual assault and attempted rape, according to the International Business Times.

He is not being tried for passing on the STD as it is considered a lesser crime in the United Kingdom and carries a shorter sentence.

The stepfather reportedly raped his stepdaughters while fully aware that he had HIV. The girls contracted the virus at around the ages of 11 and 14, respectively.

It was not until the older girl, now 22, became pregnant with her boyfriend’s child that she found out she had HIV. A routine antenatal blood test revealed her diagnosis.

“When the midwife said I was HIV positive my world fell apart,” she told the Sunday Mirror, according to the International Business Times. “The abuse had stayed a secret for so long. In that moment, everything came back to punch me in the stomach. I felt disgusting, dirty and inhuman.”

But because the HIV was detected early on in the pregnancy, she was able to take medication to prevent the virus from passing on in the womb. Her son was born HIV free.

Her younger sister, now 12, was also tested and found to be HIV positive.

The now 22-year-old victim said that the abuse started when she was 12 years of age and her stepfather kissed her on the sofa while her mother was in the kitchen.

She told him to stop but said that only made him more persistent.

“I’d been in the bath one night a few weeks later and he knew I’d be getting ready for bed so he came into my room,” the woman recounted. 

“I tried to tell him to leave but he forced me down on to the bed and ripped my towel away before raping me. I had no choice. I was terrified.”

After that he reportedly made up excuses for her to sleep in his bed, telling her mother she should in her younger sister’s bed in case she had nightmares.

When she was 13, she became pregnant with his child. He said she had been sleeping around at school and forced her to have a secret abortion, according to Daily Mail.

Social services reportedly visited the home numerous times but she said they always interviewed her in front of her stepfather and she was too frightened to speak out about the abuse. 

Her mother allegedly did not believe her and defended her stepfather instead.

Nonetheless, the 22-year-old said she is grateful her son will be able to live a happy, healthy life, the International Business Times reports.
