Man Who Sexually Assaulted 21 Dead Cats Learns His Fate – And It Caught Some By Surprise

A man from San Jose, California, was sentenced to 16 years in prison for killing nearly two dozen cats and raping a dead one.

Robert Roy Farmer was sentenced after abducting 21 cats over the course of two years and killing them — even sexually abusing one of them. Farmer was not required to register as a sex offender. In a letter read by his attorney, Wesley Schroeder, Farmer said it felt as though “another man committed these crimes.”

“But I know it was me,” he wrote. “It’s so hard to grasp that I did this. I stole a member of their family. The fact that I was out of my mind was no excuse.”

Deputy District Attorney Alexandra Ellis dismissed the letter, calling it a “manipulation” that contradicted interviews Farmer conducted with police.

“If there was an animal cruelty registry then Mr. Farmer would be the perfect picture for that,” Judge Sharon Chatman said, The Mercury News reported. Chatman ultimately decided not to register Farmer as a sex offender because Ellis’ arguments for such a label “did not meet that burden.”

“We don’t have experts to form an opinion that similar conduct was sexually motivated,” Chatman told Ellis in court. “The entire veterinary community doesn’t study it and so it’s not a piece of evidence I can put on your side of the scale.”

Many readers called for the man to receive a much harsher punishment for his disturbing crimes.

“This sicko needs to be locked away from the public for the rest of his life,” one Mad World News reader commented on the site’s Facebook page. “He is on his way to becoming a serial killer of humans. Why would anyone let this bastard stay in their home, especially after seeing him abusing her grand child and her cat? How and why does anyone rape a cat?”

“That sick pervert should never gain be allowed to roam loose in society,” another wrote. “If he’s wondered how it would be to kill a human, how long would it be until he does it? He can not be trusted around anyone or anything.”

“And the sickness of man continues to know no boundaries,” another commented. “We have let ourselves be over run with Satan…these things are not from normal beings, but sick escapades of a tortured mind…I am so afraid that it will only get worse. I pray the Lord returns soon.”
