Melania Trump Criticized During Children’s Home Visit (Photos)

First lady Melania Trump visited a children’s home in Florida, and was criticized for wearing a pair of shoes that cost more than $1,000.

The first lady visited HomeSafe, an organization for victims of abuse and domestic violence, and was pictured wearing $1,150 Rene Caovilla sandals, Footwear News reported.

Many criticized the shoes as being inappropriate for the occasion, but some felt the criticism was unwarranted.

“SHOES!!” one Mad World News reader commented on the site’s Facebook page. “The left wing media is writing about her shoes. Will this qualify the writer for a Nobel Prize for literature. What’s next her undergarments or use of makeup.”

“Some people don’t have enough to do,” another commented. “When the first lady pays a surprise visit to underprivileged kids and all y’all can complain about is her shoes then y’all need another job. Some people would complain if she wore flip flops from the dollar store.”

“I’m not a huge Trump fan and you don’t have to like him or their family…that’s fine, but when she does something nice, why do you have to be jerks about it,” another reader wondered. “If she had made sure it got out into the media you would have said she was just doing it for the press. How sad that you have to take something like this and turn it into another class war attack. I’m sure your heroes like Hillary and Michelle Obama have $1000 pairs of shoes too. Would you have written the same story about them or do you talk about Bernie’s expensive houses or Chelsea’s 2 apartments in NY that are worth millions? Pretty hypocritical.”

Meanwhile, former FBI Director James Comey issued a preview of his highly anticipated testimony about the Trump administration’s alleged connections to Russia during the 2016 presidential campaign.

In his seven-page opening statement to the Senate Intelligence Committee, Comey admitted that President Donald Trump asked him to pledge his loyalty to him and urged him to drop the investigation into former national security adviser Michael Flynn.

“I had understood the president to be requesting that we drop any investigation of Flynn in connection with false statements about his conversations with the Russian ambassador in December,” Comey said, USA Today reported.

“I did not understand the president to be talking about the broader investigation into Russia or possible links to his campaign. I could be wrong … Regardless, it was very concerning given the FBI’s role as an independent investigative agency.”
