Michael Moore: ‘Trump Is Going To Win’ (Video)
Liberal documentary filmmaker Michael Moore predicted that Donald Trump will become the next president of the United States (video below)
Moore released the bombshell on a July 20 episode of HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher,” when the two discussed the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio.
“One of the things I’ve been concerned about this week is that we’re all sitting … in our bubble, having a good laugh at this total s**t show” that is the GOP convention, Maher says in the clip, which was uploaded to YouTube by user Jack Torrance shortly after it aired.
When Moore shifts the conversation to Trump, the audience boos loudly.
“But the truth is that [the convention] plays to a lot of the people that [Trump] has to win [over] to become the next president,” the “Where to Invade Next” director explains. “I’m sorry to have to be the buzzkill so early on, but I think Trump is going to win.”
Despite the audience’s boos, Maher agrees with Moore, saying that “he certainly could win” and that Democrats need to remind themselves “every day” that “the enemy is complacency.”
FiveThirtyEight estimates Democrat Hillary Clinton has a 60.2 percent chance of taking the White House in November, compared to Trump’s 39.7 percent chance, although these numbers are frequently in flux.
Moore, who lives in Michigan, goes on to speculate that Trump could win in a similar way that the “Brexit” referendum vote passed on June 23 in the UK for Britain to leave the European Union. More than 30 million people across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland voted 52 percent to 48 percent to leave, mostly citing concerns over immigration and refugees, notes the BBC. England and Wales both voted Leave, while Scotland and Northern Ireland voted Remain.
“It’s going to be the Brexit strategy – the middle of England is Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio and Pennsylvania, and Mitt Romney lost [the 2008 presidential election] by 64 electoral votes,” Moore says in the video. “The total electoral votes in the Rust Belt? 64. All [Trump] has to do is win those four states.”
During the state primaries, Trump campaigned heavily in the Rust Belt and vowed to bring back factory jobs that were being outsourced, Moore says.
“And it was music to people’s ears,” he explains. “And more people in the Michigan primary voted Republican than Democrat…that should be disturbing to everyone.”
