Mother-Of-3 Realizes What Steak n’ Shake Server Did, Takes Action (Video)
A North Carolina mother confronted a Steak n’ Shake employee who she says stole her credit card information to pay her bills and spend money at clothing stores (video below).
Courtney Parks, 27, noticed $600 was mysteriously missing from her bank account and that she had charges on her card from car insurance and electric companies, as well as a clothing and beauty store, according to the Daily Mail. After investigating on her own, she realized exactly who took her information.
Parks determined an employee of a Kannapolis Steak n’ Shake, where she had eaten the night before, stole her bank information.
Purchases had been made on Parks’ card from Guess, Sally’s Beauty Supply, Allstate Car Insurance and an electric company. There were two pending PayPal charges on the card, as well.
Parks realized the employee stole her information after calling her bank and tracking the purchases made. She noticed the charges began about an hour after she went to Steak n’ Shake.
The mother then called the restaurant to ask who was working the drive thru the night before, and told them that she wanted to complete a customer service survey. Once she had the employee’s name, she called the electric company to confirm it was her.
She then went back to the restaurant with her children and asked if she could speak with a manger and an employee named Peandra Winn, who allegedly stole the bank information.
In a video of the confrontation, Parks tells the employee: “I was buying burgers for my family and you stole everything I had in my bank account.”
Parks tells the employee and the manager that a check she wrote to pay for her children’s daycare had bounced back due to the stolen funds.
The employee apologized to Parks and offered to pay back the money she stole.
“I know people are wondering why I decided to go up there with my children, but I wanted her to see who she stole from,” Parks told the Daily Mail.
Parks filed a report with local police and hopes she will be reimbursed soon.
The Kannapolis Steak n’ Shake at which Winn works did not comment on whether or not the employee has been fired.
The Daily Mail shared the story on its Facebook page on Aug. 17, where readers to share their thoughts in the comments.
“She needs to go to jail,” one reader commented. “Who just takes a strangers CC and pays their own bills with it? An idiot. She did some shopping for herself too- and had product sent to her own house. “Come pick me up officer”.
“I dont understand how anyone could do this,” another user wrote. “I am a server and have been for 12 years and never once have i even thought about doing this. I handle dozens of credit cards a night and i treat them with respect and they deserve to know their cards are safe when im running them through. I hope she is humiliated, fired and made to pay back every penny of what she stole and any fees for bounced checks”
