Newborn Baby Walks Immediately After Birth (Video)
Doctors were shocked when, immediately after being born, a baby started walking on her own (video below).
The newborn baby girl surprised medical staff and social media users across the world when she started walking.
The incredible clip has been shared online and more than 650,000 people have watched the amazing baby.
Because most babies don’t start walking until they’re about 12 months old, many were shocked that the baby in the video was walking right out of the womb.
Viewers shared their thoughts on the video on the Mad World News Facebook page.
“I don’t believe this is a newborn baby, what newborn baby can hold their head up without support and try to walk like that???” One viewer commented.
“It’s remarkable to see a baby that young and newly born take his or her first step,” another viewer wrote.
Other users pointed out that a newborn walking is not quite as miraculous as some might think.
“This is not unusual,” one reader commented. “Look it up in medical journals all newborns if held up as this baby is being held will attempt to pick up their feet. If you place the edge of a table or something with an edge touching their chin they will step up. They soon lose the inclination to do this it only happens right after they are born.”
“Most babies can do this, but in modern medicine they are snatched away from the mother as soon as they emerge and handled like a football while being cleaned, measured, and tested, and only returned after some time passes,” another viewer commented.
“This (as others are saying also), is not unusual but normal for all babies instantly following birth,” another viewer wrote. “Stepping motion. My midwife informed me of it over 30yrs ago and all 3 of my girls did it right after they were born and it doesn’t harm them. It’s a natural reflex instinct which doesn’t last long after birth.”
The video was recorded at a maternity hospital in Brazil and nurses at the hospital were stunned by what they saw, according to Mad World News.
According to Healthy Children, babies are born with an instinct to step. If you hold a baby under the arms and let his or her feet touch a flat surface, often the baby will naturally begin placing one foot in front of the other, appearing to walk. The reflex will go away roughly two months after birth.
