Naked Teenager Running Around In Street Sends Cops To Unbelievable Scene
A Missouri couple was arrested after their autistic child was found wandering the streets naked and alone.
Police told WDAF that they initially responded to reports of a naked man running down the street, and recognized the boy when they spotted him.
“It was 48 degrees early in the morning and we have a child running in the street,” Chillicothe Police Officer Joshua Miller said. Authorities subsequently found the parents asleep in the house in which they all lived.
“We took him back to his family’s home because in the last year we’ve found him in similar situations at the family’s previous address and now on Sunday he was unsupervised again,” Miller said. “We had to wake them up. They were downstairs in the basement. They did not know the child had even gotten out.”
The parents, police said, were suspected meth users and were arrested after officers searched the home and found drugs.
“We found methamphetamine and meth-using materials inside the home. It’s hard to say exactly what the parents were doing, but we knew because of the fact that the autistic child has wondered off at least eight times in the past and almost got hit by cars on the highway, we had to get the state involved because we’re concerned about the boy’s safety,” Miller said.
Daniel and Michelle Schliessman, the boy’s parents, were arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine and endangering the welfare of a child. The couple had four children in total, all of whom were placed in protective custody. The children reportedly hadn’t been bathed in a significant period of time and their home was said to be covered in dog feces, cat feces and animal vomit. The pets were also removed from the home.
“I saw them get arrested. I had no idea that their son was running around naked. I do know that about two days before that incident their daughter came over to my home barefooted and she had bug bites on her arms and blisters on her feet. It was terrible,” neighbor Ashley Bosley said. “It’s just crazy to me and I think those kids are now better off where they are honestly.”
Many readers called for the parents to be punished to the fullest extent of the law.
“Those poor children, they’ll be scarred for life. Hope [those] two get their just dues and pray the kids get someone to cherish them like they deserve,” one Mad World News reader commented on the site’s Facebook page.
“Throw away the key! These are monsters,” another wrote.
“For the sake of these kids, lock these pieces of crap up. Poor kids, unbelievable suffering,” another added.
