Some People Deeply Offenedd After Noticing Something About Melania’s Outfit During Asia Tour
First lady Melania Trump’s wardrobe during the trip she took to Asia with her husband, President Donald Trump, sparked controversy for its hefty price tag.
Melania spent around $42,000 on her clothing for the six-day trip — an amount that for many people could be used for a house down payment or a car, reports All That’s Fab reported. On her first day of the trip, in Japan, Melania wore a $4,800 Fendi coat and a $4,900 Valentino dress to the state dinner later that night.
In South Korea, Melania was seen wearing a $12,500 black sequin and lace dress by J. Mendel. She was also seen in a $4,100 Jesus Del Pozo plum overcoat and a pair of $675 Louboutin heels.
Many readers criticized the first lady after news of her pricey clothing broke, while some chose to focus on the fact that she’s often compared to former first lady Jackie Kennedy.
“Why do people compare her to Jackie Kennedy?” one All That’s Fab reader commented on the site’s Facebook page. “First of all Jackie like every other First Lady until this one have been real ladies! Jackie Kennedy brought class and glamour with her wherever she went unlike this first lady. Each First Lady has brought something different and positive to the White House while Melania seems to be only a fashion mannequin standing next to her husband with clothes that scream out I’m married to this wealthy POS.”
“She can’t touch Jackie Kennedy, or First Lady Michelle Obama!” another added. “With anything she wears. Clothes doesn’t make character, class, humility, intelligence, education, articulation.”
Others chose to focus on how much her wardrobe cost for such a short trip.
“Instead of being a fashion symbol she could use that money for good,” one reader commented. “Feed the thousands of children who are starving in this country and a broad. Give to a charity. Help the residents of Texas, Florida, Puerto Rico, etc. who are trying to rebuild their homes and lives. And so on.”
Others felt that the criticism towards Melania was unwarranted and unfair considering that she’s a wealthy person.
“I am not a Trump supporter but good grief consider that the Trump family are incredibly wealthy so of course Mrs Trump buys expensive clothes,” noted one reader. “Every first lady dresses up, what else would you expect? Probably better to be worried about 45 and what damage he is doing to our country, democracy and how he is alienating our allies.”
“Will people just shut up about what she wears,” wrote another. “She is covered up and looks graceful. Can’t the media find something more important than how she dressed, like our veterans or the homeless.”
