Snake Swallows Porcupine, Suffers Consequences (Video)
A shocking clip went viral showing a Brazilian snake covered in spikes after reportedly eating a porcupine (video below).
In the clip, which was uploaded to YouTube by Focus HD, the snake is seen writhing in pain after eating a porcupine and being pierced by its spikes. Dozens of white quills can be seen sticking out of the snake as it moves slowly around in pain in the nearly two-minute clip.
The video garnered almost four million views after it was uploaded, but many readers questioned whether the snake actually did eat a porcupine as the clip claimed.
“Sorry it may have thought about eating but it could not have done that because where is the bulge that would indicate an ingested meal and also had it been able to do it and had the quills actually extended from the inside on the snake you the viewer would be looking at the blood covered points of the quills not the ends of them no i do not think the snake died had i been there i would have caught the snake removed the quills and released it,” one Mad World News reader commented on the site’s Facebook page.
“That snake did not eat it. The quills are too evenly distributed along it’s body. He more than likely wrapped itself around one,” another pointed out.
In a similar incident, an Indonesian man was swallowed whole by a python and found by locals after a massive search began following his disappearance.
According to locals, the search began after the man didn’t return from work the day before.
Junaedi, the secretary of the village of Salubiro – where the incident took place – said that the search party looking for the missing man first realized that something terrible might have happened when they found the 23-foot-long python. Residents filmed the shocking moment that the snake was cut open to reveal the man’s deceased body.
“We killed the python and dragged it out from the bush. It takes quite a while to drag it out because the snake is big and heavy,” Junaedi told the Associated Press, CBS News reported.
“After that, we touched the snake’s belly and felt like legs with a boot inside the belly, then we cut open the belly. When its stomach was cut, we first saw his boot and legs near the neck. It seems he was attacked from behind because we found a wound on his back.”
